Both these subjects are in one sense the same to me. They occupy their own space - one is a macrocosm, the other a detail within a macrocosm. Whatever is happening outside of the viewfinder frame is irrelevant.


You don't have to be in rural bliss to get a good landscape and an object isolated within its boundaries can be surrounded by people or distracting activities - but is still worth observing keenly.


Lens choice, depth of field, and point of focus are particularly relevant in both scenarios, and there is something very compelling when rendering them in black & white as well as colour.
